Wherever You Are

by Jeffrey Parren

Wherever you are
I hope there's no diabetes
so fainting spells
and aching legs and feet
are a thing of the past.

Wherever you are
I hope there's no kidney failure
because dialysis
took away all your energy
and lead to the infection
that took over your heart.

Wherever you are
I hope there's no seashells
to break your fragile feet
on that beach you may go
whenever your heart desires.

Wherever you are
I hope there's food
all the food you desired
but couldn't eat
all those years of sickness.

Wherever you are
I hope you've found it
whatever it is.

Wherever you are
I know you are smiling
and I just want you to know
that rarely a day passes
without you somewhere
on my mind.

This is a very nice write to someone you obviously knew and cared for greatly. Many of us have a ‘somewhere’ we’d like to be and others aren’t sure yet where that really is.

...a delightful memoire to Mama...and she knew all that you said the minute you thought it, by the time this was typed she was already showing her friends up there...
