I've Seen it All

by Jared Orlando

I feel like I’ve been to the end of the world
Went to the edge, took a look around
Kicked around a few rocks
Took in a few breaths
And once I looked over, I realized
I thought it would be so much neater
So much calmer, so much more intriguing
But it’s all the same, really
In the good ol’ scheme of things
You have your mountains, your waterways
The same gentle breeze whistling through your hair
Identical trees and rows and rows of grains
So why do we expect, to plan
And plan
And plan
For such an apocalyptic event
That is only within walking distance
Of our very own front door.

My thinking exactly...as I tell my students, calm down, nothing means anything in the long run...
