Better Left Unsaid

by JJ Johnson

I'd tell you how I feel
But inside you'd be laughing at me
So I'll go on pretending it's not real
And pretending I didn't hear you laughing

Taking my advice on the phone
Would you have listened if you had known
Every word I said to you was influenced
By my desires and not so common sense?

I understand how you feel
You fear our friendship's death and decay
Now I feel passions I've got to conceal
And another loves me that same lonely way

So she will go on pretending
While locking her heart in a cell
It's a sentence that's never ending
Because we are both too afraid to tell

Maybe sometimes more can be said
By not saying anything at all
But I'm gonna climb you're wall instead
And lady, I don't care how far I fall

You told me to follow my dreams
Now I've decided which ones to pursue
As the rivers are fed by streams
Know that all my dreams flow straight to you

I really like the cyclical nature of this. It's very powerful, and I know exactly what you're trying to say.
