Resolutions

by Richard Colinson

I didn't think I'd be back
Down here again
So soon
Surveying the wreckage
Of so many resolutions

Not even close
I smile at the memory of
A bright light
I thought would burn

You haven't really tried
I tell myself
Not this time or before
Set yourself thus
This is the real you now
We are projecting into the future

You must hold
A constant resolution
You must weather those storms

Author's Note: Navel gazing again. This time with slightly naval imagery.
