to be ripped apart,
fed to the wolves,
forced to look in the eyes of a loved one
as the trigger is pulled,
to be face to face with death
and left alive:
a proper example of abuse.

underneath all that,
you've got to stand up.
you've got to lean into the wind,
you have to fly
and not be afraid to stare at heaven
and know that it's something more beautiful,
to be alive through all this pain.

and you will be filled with something
a feeling unlike what it is to be present today,
and it might not make everything okay,
or excuse all the layers of crap you've been through,
but it will make it all worth it,
just for a moment of this feeling.
