Of Troy

by Kim Thevenot

I am no helen
Go elsewhere to discuss the launching of ships

I no longer whisper with a sharp tongue of a girl
that knew my hips could sway eyes and opinions.
Losing a slight naivety making me less attractive and far more
appealing in a way not defined by a language he knows.

You hit the light switch on your way out
illuminating everything you ever wanted
slipping out of sight behind a closed door you wished
you remembered to copy a key for- you were always
quite dastardly like that.

And there is no need for romance here
just a singular departure that admits your defeat.

Remember my thunder baby, but please ::do us a favor::
forget my sweet, sweet storm

Author's Note: This is one of my favorites.. love the ending lines personally.

Indeed, those are good ending lines, but personally I liked the middle section - third stanza I guess - the best, with the light "illuminating everything you ever wanted"... "you were always quite dastardly like that." - I like that as well... I liked all of it very much. Impressive work. ;)
