IX. Lauren by Eli Skipp
lauren will grow old while exuding complete self-content. she will get married eventually, she
will make children, but her life will never, ever revolve around these actions. it will revolve
around her own ability to be happy, to never let her looks get her down, to learn forever and
always, and to drink with the best of them. her hispanic heritage will always remain a golden
gleam to her personality and never a curse. she will continue to be a perfect example of a
person who rose above the odds, who would never settle for not-enough, who saw what she wanted
and by god, got it!
secretly she will be a little bit terrified every single day forever. she will age grudgingly,
grasping on to her youth in a hope that she could accomplish more, accomplish everything, be
perfect inside and outside, go to school forever, never lose that one burgeoning relationship,
never give up that close-knit group of friends, never grow out of pairs of boots or grow in to
smaller pants. she is worried she will never be enough no matter how much she does and how much
she has. while she is never quite disappointed, she is always vaguely unsatisfied. this feeling
will be with her always, but as with many burdens, her life will never, ever revolve around it.03/05/2010 Author's Note: Lauren will never stop being my hero.
