The Abortion by Joan SerratelliShe went there
knowing that
she was doing
what needed to be done
They questioned her
She gave them
all the right answers
and sadly,
she undressed
she was crying
and her heart was
racing
she laid down
and looked up
to the ceiling
and said:
"I'm sorry"
and that was it
The Doctor
walked in
and took the fetus
out of her
She was rushed out of there
(never to return)
Years later she found out
that she had a stroke
on the table
It was a hard day
but she had made
the only decision
she could make
She drove home
in silence,
knowing she had
taken a life
The crying
never stopped
She would never
forget- she would never
forget that day
Four months later
she became pregnant
she had the baby
but she felt guilty
when the baby was born
she was consumed
with guilt
But she got over
the guilt
This child was
the love of her life
But she knew
she had taken
a life
She would never forget
and she would never forgive
herself
Would G-d forgive her?
Would he understand
She was prepared to
go to Hell
for her sin
She knew,
deep in her heart
That G-d forgave her
but..
She would not
and could not
forgive herself

Author's Note: I wrote this for a dear friend of mine. I was with her that day. I told her that if she is going to Hell; she'll be in good company.

Posted by Charlie Morgan on 03/03/10 at 06:44 PM ...a WoW-er of a tale, sooo hurtfully loving, so thick with meaning...i dare not say anything but i'm buying a ticket to hug that lady, do you know where she is now?...a mouthful of good poetics over a deep feeling.
Posted by Gregory O'Neill on 03/03/10 at 07:33 PM Oh yes, forgiveness a plenty...but you know, if men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament. Thanks.
Posted by George Hoerner on 04/01/10 at 07:08 PM This is a difficult issue for most and like so many difficult decisions unless you directly involved there should know judgement. We do what we must every day just to keep going and too often children are brought into this world that are never taken care of, never loved, and are so resented that not living is a blessing. Good write lady.
