to battle it’s demons
and the evil it contains.

I will build walls
of steal
moats of acid
against tomorrow
and the change to come.
I will shed tears
when you smile
as you sleep
while you dream.
I will dread
when your dreams end
and life beats you down
with it’s days
of no ending.
I will die as I watch
the sparkle in your eyes
dim as the world
crushes in around you.
Mostly I will pray

with all my heart
