After a Long Absence by Mainon A SchwartzPicking up a pen with
intentions
after so many years
makes me feel like
a grey-haired suitor
shambling up a footpath
to approach the love of my youth.
She is sitting
on her front porch,
rocking gently,
knitting something warm.
I see now she has been waiting
for me
just as I left her.

Posted by Joan Serratelli on 02/28/10 at 05:52 PM I enjoyed this read- bittersweet. I'm glad you shared it- very vivid; great word choice. We all go through blocks- for one reason or another. Welcome back. |

Posted by Rachelle Howe on 08/09/12 at 08:12 PM makes me feel like
a grey-haired suitor
shambling up a footpath
to approach the love of my youth.
I've always loved that voice that now seems like an echo, but the reverberation returns and I'm thrilled. |
