Gravity Pulls In by Michael DefriesBrings me down like river stones
Knees drop folded under the weight
of this volume filling me with void.
Heavy as a feather-light mighty duck
Personifying, yet personally gratifying
upside-down pheasant adorned window.
Gallinaceous and pleasant hanging out
Chilling like crows over dead gallows
turning meat into meat for dinner.
It's a tossy-turny world as morals shift
Poles move gears gravitationally direct
pulling, even the mighty, apart.
Limb-by-limb, creatures feed pigeons
Seed as Central Park news, tells tales
while adolescents watch atop.
Burden sets in, oh-oh, we fudged it
This poem was supposed to be about
how gravity pulls even the mighty.
Just think, these arrogant poets laugh
Sarcastically favoring snickering bars
poetic justice if you just don't read it. 12/31/2009 Author's Note:
