Chimes of Childlike

by Michael Defries

The winds roar in the Willamette plains
over the banks of flowing life-fluidity |

Speaks its mind; as the chimes sound out
a thousand times once heard, with a child's
hum, and delicate strum interest and awe
ringing; speculation is formed; curiosity
approaching, as tells of the hazel hour
when twilight is no more; skies turn dark
with aubergine, as murky waters subdue.

Muddy blue lost without royal; finds
a soothing palette for slow passes
as wind folds harmony once more;

It roars and roars; and roars | as

Chimes sound out, they ring no more.
