the limelight by V. Blake"ENOUGH!"
the man shook
enough soot
from the roof
of the subway
to give the
impression
of flickers in
the limelight,
as we, his
forked-tongued,
gap-toothed,
bleary-eyed
compatriots
clocked the blur
and were pretty sure
we knew what he meant. 02/21/2010 Posted on 02/22/2010 Copyright © 2025 V. Blake

Posted by Amie Golda on 02/22/10 at 05:12 AM This was always one of my favorite of yours. In fact I believe it was the first one you showed me when you told me I should join Pathetic...and the rest is history :) |

Posted by George Hoerner on 02/22/10 at 02:19 PM I like the write but had a hard time reading the light green. Still a good write. |

Posted by Therese Elaine on 02/23/10 at 12:39 AM You know I love your writing, but jeez, one more reason for me to get creeped out underground in the subway tunnels -I'm going to be going over these visuals in my head and trying not to bolt for the nearest exit...between you and Simon R. Green, I'm amazed I can get on a train anymore! But seriously -I am impressed with the degree of subtlety in this -it's one of those little nuanced pieces you do so well and that tend to stay with me for a long time because some part of my brain is still trying to puzzle it out long after I'm done reading it. |
