My Trodden Paths

by Wendy Sparling

My trodden paths
Trampled grass blades
Into liquid silage, as my
Achievements clung beside muddy edges.

In the course of my existence,
Footsteps pound wet sod into silt, causing
Mudslides and floods, jarring
My whispering CROWD into hysteria
Therefore, I surrendered my endeavors.

Paths deepened into galloping floods as
Currants press against my uncertainties,
Only to carry awareness downstream as I
Scramble to hold onto my existence.

I ebbed out of ONENESS.

What shall I do?
Wait until all flood pools gather as ONE,
Quiet the CROWD within,
Then reconstruct my awareness and BE?

This poem makes me feel as though I am on a path the leads to myself. It is a very insightful work taht leads me to introspection.

Strong symbolism. Existential in message.
