before you leave by Charlie Morganmost say they don't know what i mean;
of course, but everybody does.
so i live, in a misunderstood world.
flanked by the ribbons in your mind.
crumpled from being tied countless times.
once good, once great, once a nobody.
untie the ribbon one more time;
take me in, tie the ribbon. leave.
i'll untie it later, close the book.
a riff, in mid-song is welcomed.
a break from the ususal monotony.
hides everytime and appears at will.
taming the savage beast of words;
nestling, nudging a place in your heart.
moving over doubt, forlorn no more.
watching you place all your day's bets,
and on one number; what about tomorrow?
bets we made, we let ride; cards of hope.
and the pit boss ceases all betting action;
you turn to go; the cashier window is closed.
you will be first tomorrow. small glory.

| Posted by Joan Serratelli on 02/18/10 at 05:38 PM You're right again, we all live in a misunderstood world. NOBODY is perfect- we are all human; we make mistakes and, sometimes, we even own up to our mistakes- that comes with maturity. Great write- very honest. |

| Posted by Therese Elaine on 02/19/10 at 03:48 PM Sometimes life makes you ante up even when you can barely afford the opening bet...and sometimes this pays off -with dividends -and other times it leaves you bankrupt. We are all poets and pagans and prophets in our time -the sinner, the saved, the whore and the home -in each of us is a wealth of former selves, and the ties that bind can come unraveled...all we can do is hope that they hold out long enough to lead us back to where we need to be. Beautiful Charlie, as always. |
