Balance by Julie AdamsEach poem pierces me
like a single raptor's claw
clinging to the cliff's edge.
How it balances
before the great descent
and glide, into an ocean
of air, sun, and space, where dense
Cumulus clouds bear my fruits—
juicy saltwater-taffy poems,
wet as blackberries bursting,
bleeding on tongues. Taste poetry
like snowflakes, mouth open, head back.
Let the elements feed my palette
and season my words, the way
shells season an ocean bed
or people season the soil
How I travel with this craft
How it soars between senses
How it balances this clumsy poet

Posted by Ava Blu on 02/19/10 at 03:56 PM This is wonderful. I'd say "balance" is a theme we share at the moment, as I am struggling to balance my life. Well done. |
Posted by Charlie Morgan on 02/24/10 at 05:20 PM ...a lively, spirited work...each stanza turns the pic a tad and we see more of the poet and her sleepy muse...both/all of us are seeking--balance...kewl, jewels |
