The Princess and the Pooh

by Maria Francesca

Not long ago
in a kingdome serene
lived a princess,
intelligent, honest and mean.

Her face was quite lovely,
her voice a sweet sound,
but whenever a king
or a prince came around

she would glare at him cruelly
and then walk away
and just before slamming the door
she would say:

Pooh pooh to you-
go and sniff somewhere else!
You bug me
and I'd rather be by myself.

You can cry me an ocean
or beg 'til you're blue
and all that I'll tell you
is pooh pooh to you!

Now, the princess was really
a nice enough girl;
she respected her folks
and she cared for the world.

She was normally friendly,
she tried to be nice,
but the sight of a prince
made her heart turn to ice-

She'd say
Pooh pooh to you-
Get away from my door!
You think you're so charming -
you're really a boor.

Now, be gone for I find that
my patience is through!
Good bye and good riddance
and pooh pooh to you!

Then one day she met someone
who gave her a thrill
and her meanness dissolved -
she was full of goodwill!

Just one kiss
from a beautiful maiden was all
that it took for the proud, regal princess
to fall.

She proposed to the maiden,
her words sweet and shy,
but the maiden just looked her
right dead in the eye

and said
Pooh pooh to you -
get yourself on your way!
I thought I might be,
but it seems I'm not gay.

Thanks for clearing that up.
Now I'll bid you adieu
and I'll marry your prince -
Pooh, pooh pooh, now, to you!

The princess, her mean streak
completely restored,
had the maiden beheaded
and stuffed in a drawer,

and she took her attendants
and moved to the coast
where she married a maid
with a heart warm as toast

and they kissed
and they loved
and they feasted on laughter
and everyone with the good sense
to not piss off the princess

lived happily ever after.
