I fell in love
for about ten minutes the other day

she lay beside me in a pensive pose
her apprehension tangible
i reached to hold her face
and was captivated
by the way her eyes closed
lips smirked into that crooked smile

a wave of compassion
a physical wave of love washed over me
in that ten minutes
i fell in love

when i woke from my reverie
I walked the cool streets home to my lonely room
i knew ten minutes is all i would have
