Passage-of-Time Through Sea by Michael DefriesTime
around you
disintegrates
Like boats in mist
the foghorns, we hear
while the beacon arises
as the distance draws near
Faint echoes of seagulls
spill urgent, over slow
rise and quell of w's
colliding into vessels
of forgotten origin.
Across-spread
romantic lullabies
as seas grow night,
only a compass
seeks
directional bliss.
Its needle pressing,
into stitches of quilts
reaching the abyss
Voyages damned by
the pelting paint
and fierce
beats
Abandoning
tornadoes harsh
as the nucleus
whirling whining.
Rocking to sea
drink brandy; smoke,
tastes like home.
how fires burn
steady pilots.
Pistols
germinate
prevenience
Away with
kilter
afoot
To wager
lost-empireless
portals of man.
Dark blue
knows this way;
home
Yet it searches
for
souls unturned
As empty vessels
arrive
unharmed
Patrons pursue
passages as timed-
demise meets wind
Mills makes as
water seeps into
tiny inevitable.
Visions become
lost amazonians
in the play at sea
Purporting to
temp temptations
with tempest;
Fervent
absolution
meets end.
Sailors reach
their stilted
journey
harnessed by
the mistake
of stillness
We thought
the ocean
was friend. 10/01/2009 Posted on 02/16/2010 Copyright © 2024 Michael Defries
