balancing [2-14-2010]

by Ava Blu

there was a valentine's card waiting for me on the sink
i thought it was a mistake i thought my bed was already lonely enough
and i thought of all the days to bring me flowers in bed, to kiss my shoulder, to spin me around making us dizzy, to not let go
that this was the right time to slip your love under the closed door.

This is a good Valentine's Day poem. This is love that's up in the air and seemingly subject to not just the people involved but the whims of the universe in general. This is beautiful, wonderfully soulful work.

I've always thought it was the surprise gift or card that a woman appreciated more than anything, a card or gift for no reason but love.

I can really relate to this poem....cards left in obvious (yet sometimes overlooked places) when we think all is lost...left me on a bit of a sad note, as there was no card for me this year, yet when I reread this poem, the hope in it, took me out of myself and washed away my sadness. Well done.

ur poetry, so subtle, yet piercing, so comforting, yet unpredicatable...reading your work, I am ever eager to look under the door of ur page and see what surprises behold us all...another fine addition to ur work...the final line is just perfect...kudos my friend, u fine poet, deserving of ur place on the top rated list...peace, jewels PS: funny how many of us are in sync with word choices sometimes, ie: balancing, blossoming, etc...so lovely to see where we as individual poets take them, what worlds we create all our own with them...
