A Valentine's Kiss

by Michael Defries

It wasn't the way you touched my hand
That made me swoon, or the sweet kiss
I placed on your valentine rouge lips.

It was the fruity taste of your cherry gloss
Across the way the wind shifted the trees
And the sound of rain driven side-ways.

My smile driven corner-to-corner as candles
Shed bright luminescence over faint glows
As the flesh of our Valentine's kiss exposed.

So lovely...simple, evocative and sensory driven -quite, quite beautiful.
