Some Old Baptists

by Joe Cramer

Some old Baptists sat in a church pew,
Advanced in age, their numbers quite few.
I heard one say, "we don't drink, dance or cuss."
"We don't fool around much, smoke or put up a fuss."
As the old Baptist sat, their blue-haired heads began to sway,
When the hymn, "The Old Rugged Cross" began to play.
So tell me now, just what would Jesus do
If he saw those old Baptists sitting in that pew?

A good poem man, with a southern feel to me. If I were Jesus I would leave real fast for some communal bourbon.
