Reminisce About The Good Ol' by Michael DefriesI heard Josh Turner play on Letterman tonight
I didn't really listen, well actually, I tried, but
the pale blue of his strum strum strum made
the Beverly Hillbillies seem civilized.
His sounds layed on thick like some austere
but his essence brought me back to school;
Twas a time when Chris Isaac sang his melody
about a “wicked game” so cool with remorse.
It so brought me back; it's what I heard.
'Twasn't the music I was listening to but
this feeling I once had. 02/11/2010 Posted on 02/11/2010 Copyright © 2025 Michael Defries

| Posted by Therese Elaine on 02/11/10 at 03:24 PM Ah Michael -that's lovely...and it's a wonderful thing to have a sensory memory invoked by music -it can remind you of feelings, of ideas, of environment, the way normal memory cannot. |

| Posted by June Labyzon on 02/11/10 at 05:36 PM That's what music is all about, the places it brings you to, the feelings it exudes...I can't live a day without it....I love the way you "show" that in this piece.... |
