Our Lost Sunshine

by Charles M Harrison

Our Lost Sunshine

Your smile was like sunshine
it would make any day bright.
There was love in those strong arms
when you hugged your friends tight.

You were a bright light in a world
where much is just shades of grey.
You always were there to help
take some of growing’s pain away.

A pillar of strength to lean on
a shoulder on which to cry.
When your friends needed support
they knew you were the go to guy.

Never did a cloud seem
to dim your golden smile,
you spent your days among us
with humor, grace and style.

Always you had to hurry
for you time was not still,
with your boundless sprit
and your unstoppable will.

You lit our lives so brightly,
with us you could not remain.
We were left with a darkness
full of tears sorrow and pain.

Like a shooting star dims
as it streaks across the night sky.
We were left with only pain, and sorrow,
and one question , why, why, why!

Yet sometimes even now
this pain is just to much,
our scars still are plain to see
and so tender to the touch.

A part of your light we will now carry
in our hearts to share, and care for it.
When the sadness comes we remember you
and try to always, Smile Dammit!

That's sad. This is a worthy eulogy though. Thanks for sharing.

A harrowing, haunting tribute. Well done.
