ii Kisses In The Open Field

by Michael Defries

The breeze is calm, still freezes heat
Beneath the weight of those flowers
Pressing petals to glide across my fleshy tone
As the fresh earth burns its scent to my memory.

These are the kisses across passion and time
Before seeds were planted and rain gathered
It's the germination of our will unrefined
As our unknown natures unfurl in the open field.
