After Castling by Rachel Bennettthe knight, now wary
(his horse whinnied)
glanced to his right
(he drew forth his sword)
at the furrowed bishop
(anticipating the queen)
who only feigned a cough
(but in too little time)
his horse whinnied,
he drew 4th his sword -
anticipating the queen
but in 2 little time.
checkmate. 02/08/2010 Author's Note: Tried to use chess notation here - not sure if it worked out as well as I had hoped.

Posted by Darren Swift on 02/08/10 at 10:35 PM Rachel, love the idea, and think the notation could have been developed more, I'm guessing the queen took the knight??? You could have had the moves building up embedded into the poem... loving the premise. Also, got a bit caught up with the repetition of lines from the first stanza in the second... personally they don't work for me... did you have a reason??? Have I missed something??
