Pieces of Eight

by V. Blake

i write all my poems
on the bleeding edge of an afterthought,
and i'll keep doing it
until the rust settles in,
and my blade
won't
break
skin.

though i don't foresee a problem
until the day the standards
get up higher than the waterlines,
and my penchant for all things shallow
makes my pen chant lines that
can't
quite
swim.

but let's face facts.
until you stop recruiting
blind riflemen for firing squads,
my particular brand of piracy
will continue unabated, and
i'll
turn
legend.

...hey, you already are a legend, maybe in my mind...but you could kick dust-words in a beach he-mans face...i'm more wondering how you can't be a legend foreeeeever. as usual, a delightful write.

Oh man -this piece is sick...friggin' vagabond and all that...you're turning into a corsair poet, sinking lines like ships...I love it -absolutely love it. Bastard.

I'm adding the other comment I made to you since it fits this so well..."You've gone from Jedi poet to Corsair poet...if you roll a D8, we might be able to up your stats to a Chaotic Neutral Thief Scribe Warrior."

Why be a professional when you can be a legend? You're making it man.
