Iconoclast

by Rachel Bennett

"ya dig?" is what he said,
but I dig in search of gold and
gilded lining I can destroy.

the dog only digs deep enough
to bury his own bone,
but I will unearth every skeleton
clothed in Victorian prestige
and planted in dogma.

I dig knowing, confident, self-proclaiming pieces.

I'm so glad you took part in this Poemuary thing with me. You've developed a unique and powerful voice over the course of this month, and it's been awesome watching you grow as a poet. This is excellent work, Rachel. :)

Rachel, I'm with Vince -I'm so glad you did this -because I've enjoyed getting to experience all the different tones and styles you utilize and I'm constantly amazed at the things you come up with, both in content and in creativity!!!
