Frigid

by Rachel Bennett

paws bloody, teeth ragged:
why are polar bears only
quadrupedal people?

is it the raspberry on vinyl upholstery,
the tomato on sun-speckled wood grain?
is it our charismatic grin
as we chomp through ice from the cooler?

or is it something more sinister,
some heartless murder of our own,
hunting untouchables,
gathering underlings?

Author's Note: Poem #23. These will get more bearable soon, I promise (please excuse the pun).

I don't know Rachel -I'm really enjoying them, for your wordplay if nothing else -you craft quite well and your descriptions are always so vivid...and embrace the pun -embrace it!!! *grin*
