Dragon in a Barrel by Rachel Bennettdown at the bottom of the barrel
mingling with the suicidal whys
and the homicidal hows
you'll glimpse a reptilian,
blood running cold
eyes shifting mechanically
revenge webbing his toes,
letting him cause pain.
and he doesn't even need a receding hairline or steel-toed boots. 01/22/2010 Author's Note: Poemuary #22.

Posted by Therese Elaine on 01/23/10 at 03:19 AM This makes me shudder -in a good way -reminds me of a lot of the research I did on underground dwelling communities...I know I'm stretching but still -it's grim and gruesome and pitiable all at the same time...I'm still loving your work!!! |
Posted by Julie Adams on 01/23/10 at 10:08 PM In this piece, your dragon grows line by line, and despite the protruding humor of the last line, your imagery and depth reaches caverns few venture to find with open eyes...much kudos on this piece, and how so few lines say so much...ur a fine poet and a pleasure to read...peace, jewels |
