Teutonic Knight by Rachel Bennettas a Russian man sits
gaming the gamble,
shooting the breeze,
I (the foreigner)
must keep moving.
erratic and whirring,
the creak of a pivot of
steel on steel, still
this weathervane cannot
spin fast enough to mask
the conspicuousness
of my feet in cymbals. 01/21/2010 Author's Note: Poemuary Entry #21 - Based on "peregrinus expectavi pedes meos expectavi" from Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky.

Posted by V. Blake on 01/22/10 at 01:34 AM Yes. Quite. I see how you took Nevsky's original thesis and expounded upon it poetically, what with the metaphor that you both endorse, not to mention the similes which he would obviously have to commend. Yes. Right. Mmmmm. I know what I am talking about, you see. Yes. |
Posted by Therese Elaine on 01/22/10 at 02:33 AM You know what my first thought was upon reading this...it would make an awesome script tattoo...what I love is that you took this from a brilliant literary source, and rendered your own short form epic literary piece...highest marks possible!!! |
Posted by George Hoerner on 01/22/10 at 03:30 PM WOW, I saw the film Alexnder Nevsky in Ann Arbor probably in 1962. And of course the ice battle was tremendous as is your poem. Very nice. And for me, the memories.... |
