a gentle night

by Charlie Morgan

a day breaking an egg with no shell,
meet in a dervish whirl, separate
like like-Magnets, quantam in its it-ness;

we've chosen a good seat, we can watch.

voyuers of the First Order we nod;
watchers of Noh in cowboy boots;
still, our ticket-stub is wet with notice.

infected we sit effected enough we change our affect.

then the ticket-taker, gruff with a grin
insists gently that he needs your stub;
someone else is waiting to ride, always.

turning to wave, i note the sign: MIDWAY.

Always, always, this window into your moments...your precious moments. Love you Charles.

How in the world did you get your hands on an Enigma Machine? It looks like you wrote this poem on it...

I visited this poem days ago and it's still not much clearer to me now than it was then. My favorite line is: "infected we sit effected enough we change our affect." To me, this describes well the notion of us being influenced by our experiences; our appreciation for things (like the Earth) can grow from experiencing something like a sunrise. I feel like there is a reference here to WWII soldier who's time had run out. The somber yet vastly enlightened line "someone else is waiting to ride, always." seems to put things in perspective. Anyway, all this is in my imagination, and it's quite a tale you've woven, Charlie. Thanks for sharing, Mate.

A whimsical and bit chaotic ride, but fascinating.
