#00 (World War III) Preludes

by Jersey D Gibson

Ten Years Later

Looking back, the beginning of the end seems so definative,
like a giant red arrow for all to see.
Yet at the time we were blind, immune to all that was wrong,
rushing towards the end with arms wide open.

Did we fail? Did we fail ourselves? I guess it's safe to say,
looking over the devistation, what did we accomplish?
Sad to say, the price we paid was too much in the end,
heavy-handed we were, and the scars were borne by all.

Apologies were made, relief was sent,
but too little, too late, too long awaited.
Memorials now stand to represent our mistakes,
too cheap to build, too few to remind...
