Anatomy of a Cathedral by Rachel Bennettthat sepia shovel-tower of righteousness
tunneling through salt deposit clouds and
that baptismal font of self-knowing
burrowing into a settlement already full
of broken promises and failed tactics,
the men weary of faith,
the women weary of life.
the arch between the two twists
as Möbius strips and curling ribbon,
but the tower and the basin
both lead to God. 01/16/2010 Author's Note: Poemuary #16.

Posted by Michael Smith on 01/16/10 at 11:47 PM A poignant poem with a rich dichotomy that preaches well of the irony present within The Church. It really is a testament to your mind and mastery, Rachel. I do not know how you aren't wasting away when you're pumping out work of this quality on a daily basis this month. Truly, you are blessed, as are we for being on the recipient's end of your gifts.
