Hear Home Calling Us

by Michael Defries

Can you hear the waves
How they crash
Differently
Than the ones here
On the Oregon coast

These are the sounds
My longing
My home

Come home with me
I need you to be there
For our family.

Listen |
To the calm
It instills in me
Cool collected
Necessity

We desire its crest
Its peak.

Listen |
It speaks to us
Calling us.

Return to our once treasured land
Find absolution determined to
Unfurl uncoil

As we walk upon
Sandy beaches
Our feet cool
From the moisture of wetness
Brought in by the Giant Neptune

Listen |
Your every being is the constitution
Of your emissary
Following form
Back
Towards its estuary
Its tributary
Its origin.
