Between Emotions

by Rachel Bennett

between a gentle kiss and an urgent embrace,
I sometimes glimpse your practical side
but usually it's the impetuousness of
man swayed by a lion deep within
that swats and rumbles and
shivers unsure hackles
and roars so loudly
I take notice.

How can I not?

Nice attention to form, and I really love the tone in this, too.
