SMITH, PAUL R. Sergeant First Class U.S. Army War In Iraq Born: Record Incomplete Departed: 04 Apr 2003 01/12/2010 Author's Note: Thanks to the Congressional Medal Of Honor Society (CMOHS.com) to keeping this tradition of heroes alive. As of today, only 91 people who have receieved the Medal of Honor are still alive. None of them are from the Global War on Terrorism. Awards are still given to previous honorees (Teddy Roosevelt got one last November, in fact) but MOH recipiants that are still breathing are few. BTW, no WWI veterans are alive today, the last one passed away about 8 months ago.

Posted by Johnny Crimson on 01/12/10 at 10:32 PM Very interesting. I knew the WWI vet past away recently. Amazing that no one is left. I guess that's what time does. The average American has no idea what happened in WWI, 2, e.t.c... They just watch jersey shore and drink fruity cocktails!! |
