Love’s Next Dance by Michael DefriesYou don’t write to me anymore
But your silence is refreshing
I reflect on all the times we shared
We laughed and cried, we fought.
We sat on the dock and watched
The clouds pass by and the birds
Make loud noises while locusts
Buzzed and alligators swam near.
Heavy hearts find their temperance
While we sat beneath the live oaks
The full moon passed overhead
We glow like it, when we are one.
When we coalesce, we coexist, and
Yet our love is beyond measurable
How do you continue once you’ve
Realized growth, where is the next.
Let us move past intense moments
May we spread love over the span
Is our lifetime too short for this now
Pray it perpetuates our kinetic dance. 09/06/2009 Posted on 01/12/2010 Copyright © 2025 Michael Defries

| Posted by Amie Golda on 01/12/10 at 10:16 PM Nice. I like the last line especially. The second stanza has great imagery though. But the it's the third and forth stanzas that give the context and meaning of the last line its impact. Well done. |
