Contemplations On Buddhas And Dharma

by Michael Defries

Buddha Shiva,
Buddha Avalokiteshvara,

Amidha Buddha,

Buddha Shakyamuni,
Dharmodgata Buddha,

Gautama Buddha,

All wonderful, and about a Buddha,

What one truly knows,
About them, and themselves,

A mysterious search for the never-end,
How indefinite is the search for the knowledge,
For the search of such wise compassion,
And a search for some inner sanctuary,

A samadhi,
A place that is still,

Mind empty, and all outflows,
Terminated within the Dharma glass,
And for those that do not know what the Dharma is,
Keep searching.

A Dharma is a thing,
Really it is no-thing,

And also pertains not to reality,
But to non-reality,
Non-necessity,
Whatever that means.

Things is just some word which describes generically,
It describes something as something that is insubstantial,

It is just some thing,
Or, that thing over there,
It could be said that Dharma is just some stuff,
Some stuff out there.

In some actuality, in a sense,
In a sense of definition,

Dharma is perpetual motion,
Not the kind that is imaginable,
Maybe it is only perceivable,
Dharma is some definition of some-thing.

And also it is something that is there,
And the word Dharma is just a generic,

Just a simple word, soft, and simple,
Yet it describes something that is indescribable,
In a dualistic sense Dharma describes,
Intangiblility.

Dharma gives birth to a definition of something,
That truly has none,

So, if imaginable,
All of everything that is,
That, in a sense, we can put physical attributes to,
Are the things that we observe, that we see.

So if a bird is seen flying by,
It is known that the bird is flying because of observation,

Flight is observable,
And flight is known because of explanation,
In some way, someone explained it,
And so a bird is thus flying.

So Dharma, in its skill, happens,
Dharma happens because of events,

Events are traceable,
Events are known because of theory,
In some way, theory gives explanation to that which is,
And so Dharma thus is.

It is there and though not directly seen,
A Dharma force permeates,
A Dharma tribe follows its teaching,
And Dharma is there; not created nor destroyed,

Just muted,
Just flowing,

So this Dharma group,
These Dharma students,
These Dharma teachers,
The ones that concentrate,

And find its incomprehensible meaning,
The Buddhas are these teachers of this art form.

This wonderful art mastery,
And it can never be learned nor taught,

Only understood,
It is a matter of comprehension,
It is a skill acknowledged through the soul,
Mastery of this skill is lengthy, and infinite,

So the Buddhas teach,
And the Buddhas preach,

And in there specific domains,
Their area of space, or part of the universe, that is,
They convey their Dharma Wisdom to others,
And how wonderful it is.

It is so wonderful that there are teachers across,
Space, Time, and Dimension, which bring some light,

Some inner enhancement of being,
And a way of life which is simple in its complexity,
So this path of the Buddhist, or philosopher
Or the searcher of such wisdom.

Wonder stirs the minds,
And an effort is made to utilize the mind teachings,

Of these Buddhas,
Curious about origination of such teachings,
And curios about origination of such written,
Or orally transmitted doctrine.

In the doctrine itself,
Its original message its lost,

And another message must take the place instead,
So along the way,
Another message had formed,
And it has shaped itself for the current and direct place,

These are some things that are contemplated,
Some of the things that are lost within,

The search for the original meaning,
And with no current Buddha to lessen,
In what way does the message go,
Does it go unknown?

When will the teacher return,
To the unattended class,
So how wonder sets in is how side-tracked,
Mostly forgotten,

Easily dismissed the teaching is,
Truly the Dharma continues.
