Priceless Diamonds

by Michael Defries

There’s something
About you
The way
You look
At me (my core)

When you smile
Your whole face
Lights up

Like the first time
We held hands

It reminds me of
Childlike innocence

As though a smirk
That turns
To laughter and
Bursts with expression
Whole.

The way you peer
Past my physical
With those eyes

Staring like
Priceless diamonds
At the night sky

Making me feel
So marshmallowy inside
Melting into you

As my soul
Shatters into
Whole.
