Sun sets,
City calms
So many structures, no faces
So many closely equated.
None in knowledge:
So close, yet so far apart
Sharing a technological union,
But nothing of the heart.
Sounds and noises
No faces, no names
Images and structures
No life, no story
I like the city better in the night.
No noises, less light.
The world has an excuse to be quiet
In their homes, blind and dormant.
The same as day, people fail to know
Those they could love.
We all have no home. 12/01/2003 Author's Note: I looked outward and saw the whole city: The CN tower, the lights of cars going by on a piece of Lakeshore right next to Grenadier pond. The lights peering out from the dense canopy of High Park, and the Skydome open, creating a halo of light above.
