nothing is wrong

by Maria Francesca

nothing is wrong.

the amount I give,
the amount I receive,

the list of things to which I look forward,
the list of things in which I take pride,

my collection of joys and certainties,

the itemized contents of my atrophied heart
and the sum total of my soul
as I stare into its foggy windows;

all of these combine
to equal
nothing.

and nothing is wrong.

Author's Note: went through a very low spell recently - I seem to be climbing out of it, but I wanted to try to express it.

The winter evokes a lot of emotions in me initially and then at some stage lulls out until I feel like the grey wreck that I see outside. It is very interesting...

This poem is proof that there is still an active being lurking within you, so do not despair!. Perhaps take refuge in your temporary peace and enjoy it while you can! It's funny sometimes how we only seem to feel alive when there is drama amidst our lives. Thanks for sharing, Maria.

this is pretty in its breaking-down-flavor. its a chest cracking procedure reading it because it's very gutty and heavy, but that is why it shines to me. accepting a dry spell, scribbling it out and sharing it...that is a beautiful way to snap out of it. shake it off girl...shake it off ;)

Maria the light still shines through the fog that may surround your soul. Questioning our certainties is a dangerous task for us all but a necessary one as humans least we loose our minds out of disuse. You've displayed the use of yours in this write and simply stated it is fine.

I wouldn't say your heart is atrophied, it sounds honest and even courageous. Applying creativity like this can give us a "leg-up" when we are trying to climb out. Delighted. Thanks.
