Invisible Tune by Amie GoldaA quiet morning stretches itself
at the start of the year, where the air is crisp but heavy.
A song folds its tune into place
amid the waker's labyrinth mind
And though the day is mute as a shock
I hear the words caught in refrain
A low-key melody loud as thunder
races with the sun's quick assent
Where it shall haunt my day;
For the hush cannot keep my world from singing:
My mind is on repeat. 01/05/2010

Posted by Olivia Martin on 01/05/10 at 01:07 PM Amie, I am really enjoying your poetry! This piece gave a fresh perspective on the start of the new year; although we often think of "starting over," this piece reminds us that sometimes its not as easy as making a resolution. I loved the imagery in this piece, especially "A song folds its tune into place/amid the waker's labyrinth mind" - Great write! |

Posted by V. Blake on 01/05/10 at 07:45 PM Heh, for the second time today I am making this exact comment. I don't like the the "loud silence" line, as I feel it detracts from the originality of the rest of the awesome ones you've got here. That aside, brilliant. |
Posted by Michael Smith on 01/06/10 at 04:32 AM This made me laugh! I'm not sure if that is what you would've liked, but this would be, by far, the most clever and beautiful way to describe the experience of getting a song stuck in your head ;) Happy New Year, Amie!
