Let Fate Decide My Demise

by Michael Defries

Like thunder and lightening
The flood is unleashed
Washing me its direction

With momentous force
Taking me where
There is no control

Allowing me to fight…
Letting me die
Where it decides.

It washes me out to sea.
To face tidal waves of
Violent and swift nature -

Poseidon rules all! In this
Vast blue void. The cold
Damp of night falls. Never,

Have I seen a dark fury,
Angry like this, before
Now, I wonder, will I reach

A nadir of colossal or float
Buoyantly and uninhibited
Across the River Ganges.

May I never return there
Seems such a lonely place
Yet, such a comfort.
