Snowflake by Richard VinceThe November wind stings
Hair still wet from the shower
As she walks sleepily to
The bus stop.
This morning is bright and
Clear; the low winter Sun
Makes the whole sky shine.
It is comprehensively eclipsed
By last night, and by
The smiles of all the people
With whom she felt at one.
She went to sleep in a dream,
And awoke in a reality of
Snooze buttons and coffee
And temperamental showers.
Her saturated hair makes her
Smile: she remembers why
There was no time to dry it.
Somehow, the crystalline feeling
Of the wind catching it is a
Metaphor for last night:
Uniquely beautiful, like a
Snowflake; a dream
She will never forget.
