Movement in Estragon by Michael DefriesIts the rain in the early spring
The nature so pouring down
Damp floors walk on soundless
Wet leaves talking up a storm
Moving all the time all the...
Trees waving stories above high
Branches swaying towards light
Green growth allowing sunshine
Moods to find summer showers
Shhh wooshing silently through
Sea shell calm tells tales of sea
Whispers its fondness into you
Click click cluck cluck...dolphin
Admires beauty from afar quietude
Evaporates into atmospheric bliss
Only to drink from the well today. 05/30/2009
Author's Note:
I wrote this after reading this excerp.
It is from the play Waiting for Godot.
Estragon is one of the two main characters from Samuel Beckett's play. It creates a lot of sound, motion. Here Vladimir and Estragon are talking back and forth:
ESTRAGON:It's so we won't hear.
VLADIMIR:We have our reasons.
ESTRAGON:All the dead voices.
VLADIMIR:They make a noise like wings.
ESTRAGON:Like leaves.
VLADIMIR:Like sand.
ESTRAGON:Like leaves.
VLADIMIR:They all speak at once.
ESTRAGON:Each one to itself.
VLADIMIR:Rather they whisper.
ESTRAGON:They rustle.
VLADIMIR:They murmur.
ESTRAGON:They rustle.
VLADIMIR:What do they say?
ESTRAGON:They talk about their lives.
VLADIMIR:To have lived is not enough for them.
ESTRAGON:They have to talk about it.
VLADIMIR:To be dead is not enough for them.
ESTRAGON:It is not sufficient.
VLADIMIR:They make a noise like feathers.
ESTRAGON:Like leaves.
VLADIMIR:Likes ashes.
ESTRAGON:Like leaves.
VLADIMIR:Say something!
ESTRAGON:I'm trying.
VLADIMIR:Say anything at all!
ESTRAGON:What do we do now?
VLADIMIR:Wait for Godot.
ESTRAGON:Ah!
