The Trees Are Falling by Michael DefriesWe don’t respect the elders
The trees fall
We don’t respect the elders
The trees fall
We don’t respect the elders
The tress fall
We are at the equator
We feel the rays of light
We embrace the heat
As it warms our bodies
The touch of nature
Filling our bodies
As though it were air
As though air were life
And as though we are nature
Wisdom crawls from within
It lurks around a corner
Window with its drawn shade
Drawn and blinding to us
To life we are symmetry
We are but butterflies
Within the wind
The song of nature is when
We call ourselves human
We call nature balance
We embrace the idea of wisdom
But we destroy all that is sacred
We breathe tainted air
Air that is life
Air that is like life
Watching are the trees
Watching are the elders
Waiting for the time to come
The time of when no one will
Stand again
When trees become dead
And when trees fall like giants
When we are like the trees
When the elders watch
When they are watching
This evolution
That which is nature
That which is ancient
That which is repetitive
That which is elusive
That which is stars shining bright
For us to see that we will not be there
But we are here with our stars
Our sun
Now!
It brings forth life’s design
With direction and guidance
To grow to learn to evolve
To create to live to breathe
To breathe fresh untainted air
To see the wind find our natures
To feel the rain fall from our tears
Our elders watching
Seeing all that is
And that will become
They find our natures disgusting
Because we are disguising ourselves
As creatures that are self-sustaining
Symbiotic embryos with
Psycho-spiritual
Connectedness to nature
Of all that are but the trees
And the elders
The trees that are watching
Our demise
Our devastation
Our creation
Our birth
Into the canal of symmetry
Of simplicity
Of sex
Of science
Of philosophy
Of geometry
Of rock and earth
and water and metal
Of suns of universes
Of suns of our space
Of heat and light
and weather
The trees are falling
The elders are watching
The trees are falling
The elders are watching
The trees are falling
The elders are watching
One day the trees
Will have no memory of us. 11/02/2008 Posted on 12/28/2009 Copyright © 2025 Michael Defries
