One grain
Of sand
So pure
So rich

The earth
Worn down
To one molecule

On minuscule iota
Of salt water breaks
On the tide of sea

And shore
To the far lands
Of abyss and nowhere

To the lands of sand
And planets of dust
Of lakes and rivers

One grain of sand
Is all that is left
To remember

The empire
It once was
