River Running White Feather

by Michael Defries

You told me your name
And I remember it
But I know your face
From a different
Time, destiny
Brings us together
Again, today
I see you

Your face so
Exquisite
So radiant
With skin so soft
Olive tone
Like a tan on
A desert safari

Running free
Towards away
From nature
Of the beast
Itself a land
Animal caged
In wilderness.

So raw
The beauty inside
Like a wild
Stallion king
Tempting nature
To bend to its
Will

Found its fate
Given strength
Passed down
Generations
Lifetimes
You brave
The Great Mother
You live in
The open

We watch
Over the moon
From our
Small tribal
Land.

Your face
So light
I remember
Then
River Running
White Feather
By the
Calm grass

Meadow stream
Water drops
Caress, this
Your dark
Shiny hair
And face

I remember
You running
Free once
And your
Soft warm
Look connected
My soul
To your eyes

You watched
The seasons
Grow old
And the children
Become young again.
