The Day

by Christopher J Davidson

The stockings are empty,
The presents unwrapped
The children are playing
And mom needs a nap.
Papa's got heartburn
From the milk and cookie plate.
He just might need a drink
And it's not even eight.

When the credit card bill
Comes in on the tenth
They'll fret and consider
The money they spent.
But for now all is quiet
And the house is serene
And it's time for some football
On the new HD screen.

Author's Note: It's not great, but I don't really care right now... Hell, I might even delete it...
